Wall repair project, July 2025 to July 2026

The gallery, the café and the Whitworth Shop are all open as usual.

You might notice some areas around the outside of the gallery and the park are temporarily fenced off. This is to allow essential repair work on one of the external walls of our beautiful historic building.

Over time, weather and age have caused damage to the wall’s stonework and pointing, so specialist conservation work is now underway to help protect and preserve the structure. These repairs are an important part of caring for the building’s historic character and ensuring it remains safe, secure, and welcoming for everyone who visits.

As many of you know, this space is more than just a building — it’s a creative hub for artists and the community, full of learning, inspiration, and connection. We’re proud to be looking after it for current and future generations.

The gallery and park will remain open as usual, and we’re doing our best to keep the noise and disruption to a minimum. Thank you for your patience and continued support while we carry out this important work.
